Love and Life

Most of the questions I get asked about concern relationships. This is a tough area. We are naturally inclined to love and trust but when those bonds are broken it is difficult to place ourselves back into a vulnerable situation again.

One of the best resources any of us can use in this area is our intuition. The problem with that is we don’t always want to heed our inner voice. For example, many years ago when a former boyfriend of mine made a pass at my sister, it was easier to blame my sister than to accept the fact that this guy had betrayed me. My intuition was screaming that choosing to stay with him was a bad idea, but I kept making excuses until I reached the point where I couldn’t fool myself any longer.

Intuition goes both ways though. It wasn’t long after I started dating my husband that my intuition told me that he was the one for me – even though there were quite a number of areas for disaster in our relationship. I was divorced with two small children and he was 13 years younger than me!!! It took nerves of steel for him to even bring me home to meet his parents! And here we are, 12 years later and still crazy about each other. We share our children with my ex-husband and his wife in a true spirit of friendship and support and his parents and I have a wonderful relationship. I just hope I can be as open-minded when my children bring their dates home!

I’d like to end this entry with some lines by Olive Schreiner that I recently shared with one of my clients.

I saw a woman sleeping. In her sleep she dreamed Life stood before her, and held in each hand a gift – in the one Love, in the other Freedom. And she said to the woman, “Choose!”

And the woman waited long: and she said, “Freedom!” And Life said, “Thou has well chosen. If thou hadst said, ‘Love,’ I would have given thee that thou didst ask for; and I would have gone from thee, and returned to thee no more. Now the day will come when I shall return. In that day I shall bear both gifts in one hand.”
I heard the woman laugh in her sleep.

So live your life and love will follow.

Precognition

Precognition is the ability to foresee events before they actually happen. Sometimes you can glimpse a small part of the event while at other times you can see the whole process unfold. It follows the idea that time is more of a spiral, not a straight line. Therefore, sometimes you can "skip ahead" to catch a peek of a possible future. Time is also dynamic so absolute predictions don't usually apply.

The thing to remember with this, or any psychic ability, is the more you use the ability, the stronger and more reliable it will become. It's important not to stress out over the process or place too much attachment to it. It's a natural ability that does not need to define you, but only adds to who you already are.

There are a few common things to do to develop this ability. Pick a time once or twice a week when you can be alone without interruptions. Then sit and relax, take a few deep breaths and allow your mind to wander. Observe what you see but don't try to analyze anything. This exercise is good to keep you connected with spirit and aware of your intuition. You also might want to keep a written record of the things you see, especially since some precognitive visions might take years to unfold. Next you want to view every aspect of your life through your intuition. You don't have to use it just to see the future.

Be aware of your intuitive responses to any situation you may be in. Over time you will learn to trust your intuition and you'll begin to use it naturally in every aspect of your daily life - without even thinking about it!

Harry Potter

I love Harry Potter and the new book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, is coming out on Saturday. So I’ll be wrapped up at Hogwarts for the next few days, catching up on my favorite wizard. Talk to you all soon!

Don't Go into the Room!

Have you ever watched a scary movie where the stupid girl walks blindly into the room with the nasty evil ghost? I don’t know about you, but I yell at the screen and cover my head under the pillows with the best of them. In reality I have been the stupid girl who walks into the room with the ghost. But in my case, it has never been blindly.

When I am in a house with some kind of psychic/ghostly activity it’s as if I have “spooky radar” in my head. I sense the spirits as I walk into the situation. So although I can’t “see” them with my eyes, I can certainly “see” them with my third eye. To me it looks like energy that has dissipated over the whole area of the house slowly reconnects and focuses to form the body of the spirit. And I’m watching the entire process.

Therefore, even if I am idiot enough to enter a haunted house, I’m rarely, if ever, surprised.
